Boundary-Breaking and All-Inclusive: ISPO Beijing 2023 sets sail for a new journey

2023-01-10

2023 is a year full of new hope. As the Covid-19 epidemic in China slows down and infections steadily declined, the economy and people’s daily life have both returned to normal, and the consumer market has grown fast. While the restart brings opportunities to the industry in every aspect, it also poses new challenges in the current global context.

On February 10-12, 2023, ISPO Beijing 2023, the first grand event of the sports and lifestyle industry this year, was opened at the National Convention Center in Beijing. With an exhibition area of 30,000 square meters, it showcases cutting-edge products and technologies from more than 360 brands to industry professionals and sports enthusiasts. Since entering China in 2005, ISPO has made rapid and vigorous development along with the sports life industry. It has also waded through a period of confusion and loss together with the industry. Now standing on the position when the global development of the industry is in sight, ISPO will continue to be a provider of the latest information and keen industry observations to promote cross-industry and cross-category business exchanges and an understanding of trends in the industry.

ISPO Beijing 2023 connects the upstream and downstream of the industry, and through the interactive display area, it comprehensively presents products and technologies in five major sectors: winter sports, outdoor sports, camping lifestyle, health and fitness and functional textile and trimmings. It will also address hot topics and future solutions through four core forums: the Asia-Pacific Mountain Outdoor Sustainable Development Summit, the Sports Fashion Trend Forum, the online "New Direction, Grand View" Outdoor Sports Retail Forum, and the Sports Training and Rehabilitation Forum. As the grand annual event for the sports industry in China and Asia, ISPO Beijing will give a full interpretation of the sports industry and showcase its future opportunities.

Reshape sports lifestyle and provide more opportunities for early adopters

Camping, cycling, frisbee, and land surfing have “broken its boundary” and are now familiar to common people. As they get to know what these sports are really like, people began to shape a new understanding of the word "sports". It turns out that "professional, extreme, high physical demand" are only some of the possibilities. Actually "sports" can be part of our leisure life, and even become a symbol of modern quality life. As a promotion platform for sports lifestyle, ISPO hopes to make sports lifestyle a daily choice of the public through real-life and interactive exhibitions.

ISPO Beijing 2023 has created three "first launch areas" to promote new categories and traditional category upgrades. It will establish the first Freestyle Skiing Area in cooperation with WE SAVE SKI, a publicity organization for freestyle skiing. We will jointly promote freestyle skiing, a sport that shined at the Beijing Winter Olympics, and showcase its history, development and fashion; the rock climbing area, in addition to the traditional fun rock climbing competitions and open classes, will create a new area [Rock Climbing Pivot Exhibition], which will further promote industry exchanges, and exhibit the fun of rock climbing; the first Cycling Lifestyle Area will integrate bicycles, cycling equipment, accessories, parts, cycling wear and intelligent cycling solutions.

The most inclusive exhibition area is undoubtedly the Urban Sports Area, which accommodates a myriad of urban sports such as land surfing, yoga, boxing, and simulated skiing. It can bridge the need of urban people for a leisure life.

Co-hosted by ISPO and the SEE Foundation, the Outdoor Sustainability Area is presented by the Grass Carnival, with the theme of "In Nature, Love Nature". It will invite Chinese and international environmental protection organizations, practitioners and environmental protection brands to give lectures and talks about natural science and environmental practices for outdoor activities. GORE-TEX will join hands with partners such as adidas TERREX, Bosideng and Salomon at ISPO, and hold a roundtable forum on sustainable innovative technology under the theme of "Environmental & High-Performance".

In 2022, ISPO and Tmall jointly created the " Hexagon Standard for Jackets". It emphasized the environmental risks faced by outdoor activities, and provided purchase suggestions. This year, ISPO Beijing will feature the selected products from well-known Chinese and international brands such as Camel, Columbia, DECATHLON, Helly Hansen, Jack Wolfskin, KAILAS, Lafuma, Northland, and UPPERVOID.

Similarly, the ISPO Textrends Awards area, a home for sports fashion designers, will focus on the textile trends in autumn/winter 2024/25. It will release the fashion trendbook, and demonstrate the application of some fabrics in the ready-made garments.

Strong Support and Professional Endorsement, ISPO Consolidates Foundation for Industry Development

Based on the Asia-Pacific Snow Forum, the newly upgraded Asia-Pacific Mountain Outdoor Sustainable Development Summit focuses on several main markets: mountain sports, water sports, outdoor sports and outdoor leisure. The forum will feature expert talks on data interpretation, forecasts and trends, and national policies targeting topics like skiing, traveling, zero waste, and nature education.

At the same time, ISPO Beijing 2023 will continue to interpret new trends in the industry. The ISPO Sports Fashion Trend Forum will focus on the trends in color, material, product design, and intelligent wearable devices.

The online "New Direction, Grand View" Outdoor Sports Retail Forum jointly organized by ISPO, Seven Plus Two Outdoor and the Beijing Chamber of Commerce Outdoor Committee aims at the breakthroughs, development and opportunities of outdoor businesses in the changing situation. Participants will share their problems, solutions and experience, and try to find a way out.

The Sports Training and Rehabilitation Forum is jointly held with the Sports Rehabilitation Industry Alliance, focusing on sports injury prevention, postoperative rehabilitation, etc. It offers scientific insights on potential risks in sports. By discussions on sports protection and rehabilitation technology, industrial chain, and services, it will lay a solid foundation for more widespread sports lifestyle.

ISPO will focus more on industry information sharing, innovational brand image display, industry communication and exchange. It will build a more complete trade platform and a wider range of business opportunities for the development and reshaping of the sports industry; It will also exhibit sports fashion and trends to enthusiasts. With more interaction, sharing and communication, we will work with all of you to promote China's sports industry and consumer market.
