Nanjing Sports Carnival 2023 opens with festive mood and innovative ideas

On August 4th, Nanjing Sports Carnival 2023 opened grandly at Nanjing International Exhibition Center.

Under the concept of “Sports Carnival”, the organizer ISPO aims to integrate in the show the “Sports+” strategy advocated by Nanjing by offering the combinations of “exhibition + conferences” and “exhibition + competitions”. The show is supported by the Nanjing Municipal Sports Bureau and Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and brings together important stakeholders in the industry, e.g. sports enterprises, professional sports venues and sports clubs.

The show consists of forums and independent exhibition areas that cover all the important aspects of the sports market, such as sports tourism, sustainable ski resort, RV travelling, and new urban sports in order to promote new developments in the industry.

On a display area of 25,000 square meters, the exhibition brings together more than 400 Chinese and international brands from more than 300 exhibitors of Camping Lifestyle, Outdoor Sports, Water Sports, Urban Sports, Cycling Lifestyle, Running, Winter Sports, Technology and Textile covering all aspects of mass sports, travel, tourism and urban leisure life.

New exhibit categories are added to the show this year, including new sports equipment, fitness yoga, skiing, and RV travelling that account for more than 50% of the total exhibits. Such changes demonstrate the potential of the sports lifestyle industry, which is providing novel and richer choices to sports enthusiasts and the public in Nanjing.

 

New upgrades in the colorful summer sports carnival

The Carnival officially kicked off under the witness of Ms. Chen Ailin, Level I Division Rank Official of Nanjing Sports Bureau, Mr. Zhang Xiaoqi, Chairman and Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing Sports Industry Group and President of Nanjing Sports Industry Federation, Mr. Shen Jinquan, Vice President of the Nanjing Branch of China Promotion Council of China (CIIT), and Ms. Xu Jia, CEO of Greater China of Messe Muenchen Shanghai Co., Ltd.

As part of its coverage of the new trends in the industry, ISPO has launched the RV Travelling Zone and the Bushcraft Lifestyle Zone for the first time, showcasing new choices for outdoor travel and wildland exploration. Such upgrades can increase interaction between the sports and lifestyle sections of the market.

An equally new area is the Ski Resort Zone that is launched in this off-season. It presents the snow wear and ski equipment manufacturing and production industry and provides personalized customer service solutions for ski resorts. The newly-open Boards Embassy Area showcases skiing culture and philosophy to skiers and the public. It offers information about practical equipment and styling as a warm-up for the upcoming snow season.

Urban cycling is not only a sport fit for daily exercise, but also an important part of a city's culture.

The ISPO Cycling Lifestyle Hub has created a series of events and activities, such as Nanjing City Cycling Race, Zijin Mountain Observatory Hill Climbing Race, Slow Cycling Competition, Bicycle Refitting Workshop, etc. They represent cycling experiences that is closely related to the culture of Nanjing. Also, participants will be able to try out and buy cycling equipment, accessories, parts, cycling wear and other cycling products, as a lot of high-quality cycling stores, cycling communities, clubs and KOLs will take part in the activities.

The Urban Sports Zone continues to serve as a one-stop platform for new urban fashion. It joins hands with a number of trendy brands to provide beginner, advanced and cutting-edge sports experiences such as land surfing, frisbee, flag football, yoga, and balance boarding.

The Fitness Rehabilitation Area has invited doctors from Nanjing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Nanjing Sports Hospital, two authoritative institutions of sports medicine research in China, to give systematic and scientific rehabilitation assessment and treatment, as well as suggestions on training and sports protection.

The ISPO Water Sports Park is once again held in Nanjing, offering a wealth of water sports experiences like pool paddleboard, ropeway paddling, kayaking and surfing that are full of fun!

Focusing on the concept of "live with nature", ISPO Sustainability Area, in partnership with the Friends of Nature Nanjing Group - Baidieyuan Ecological Development Center, presents the relationship between butterflies and biodiversity through a butterfly photo show and a butterfly detection activity. While learning about nature, visitors also receive a "Zero Waste Race Guide" pamphlet distributed by ISPO and Nuolu, a member of the Friends of Nature community. The pamphlet provides suggestions for responsible outdoor activities and the sustainable management of outdoor events and activities.

The specially designed ISPO Cultural and Sports Festival, a response to China’s national fitness strategy policy, is also held in Nanjing for the first time. It joins hands with many leading institutions such as the China Popular Literature and Art Research Association and Jiangsu National Standard Dance Association, and jointly create a Sports Dance Open that welcomes more than 3,000 sports dance professionals and amateurs.

To promote regular sports among the mass, ISPO and Weibo Sports has launched the #ISPO Sports Lifestyle Leaders#, an “Internet + sports” program that calls for athletes, sports enthusiasts, and the general public to post graphics, texts and videos about all sorts of outdoor sports activities, trendy equipment and what’s happening at ISPO to expand the influence of healthy lifestyle.

Moreover, ISPO has invited industry practitioners and experts with strong influence, e.g. wild survival expert and explorer Zhu Weiqiang, national fitness promotion ambassador and extreme outdoor sports pioneer Zhang Jing, bicycle mountain climbing pioneer Zhang Jingkun, sports equipment opinion leader Yeluzi, outdoor life aesthetics practitioner "Daddy love camping", the 2021 winner of Chinese Fitness Industry Idol “Pink Feifei” and the ISPO "certified experts". They will share sports experience together and act as sports role models for the public.

 

A gathering of market leaders to locate the "booster" of sustainable development

The conference focuses on "Exhibiting Charm of Nanjing, Pooling Industrial Resources and Promoting Sports Tourism Consumption" and aims to give a convenient opportunity for participants to understand the preferential policies, construction planning, market targets, supporting facilities and other advantageous resources provided by Nanjing to guarantee the sustainable development of outdoor and camping industry. Clearly it can provide a convenient and accurate source of information for high-quality projects seeking to find opportunities in Nanjing.

The China Ski Resort Industry Sustainable Development Conference continues to expand the vision of the snow sports community in the summer time. Mr. Wu Bin, Vice Chairman of Beijing Ski Association, is invited to talk about the key results of the "China Ski Industry White Paper (2022-2023)". He focused on the opportunities for ski resorts brought by changes in the market and in consumer structure and preferences. Taking the integrated development and off-season operation in China and abroad as examples, he proposed and discussed new development concepts and model of urban ski resorts with the participators from different industries and fields, creating new ideas for IP creation and social media development.

The "Uncle Chao Talks about Trendy Brand" streaming show is once again running at the ISPO exhibition. The streamer, Uncle Chao, talked about the reasons of the current booming in the outdoor industry and its future trends, which provided new ideas for the sustainable management of outdoor brands.

 

 

Joint forces explore new possibilities for a sporty lifestyle

The Energy Coffee Festival, where the coffee culture collides with outdoor elements, presents a festive party with Nanjing's local coffee brands and specially invited bands. The 10th-anniversary NBeer Pub "Friends" Craft Brewing Party served a limited classic beer, and triggered a summer carnival joined by multiple outdoor brands in a beer-surrounded environment.

In the parallel venue, the Xuanwu Lake Love Park, the Nanjing Sports Bureau and ISPO presented outdoor camping and lifestyle products to the citizens and sports enthusiasts of Nanjing. The exhibition is also a promotion to the nighttime economy.

 

Moreover, with the support of ON, ISPO launched the “City Wall, City Walk”, a 11-kilometers walking around the city wall of Nanjing through which the participants enjoy the history and beauty of Nanjing, and feel the perfect integration of sports and culture. In addition, in order to promote the deep integration of culture, trade and tourism, ISPO has set up an orientation check-in activity in conjunction with Nanjing Sports Industry Group and the Nanjing Marathon Association. It offers an opportunity to experience the excitement of diving, rowing and physical fitness activities.
